What You Will Learn

Five lessons. One clear picture.

After these five lessons, you will know which tech field fits your child and how to pick a school that actually gets students hired. You will also know what your child needs to do during college so they do not graduate with a degree and no job.

Here is what each lesson covers:

  • 01
Why a Computer Science degree from a well-ranked school no longer guarantees a good job โ€” and what actually matters now
  • 02
The five tech fields and which one fits your child โ€” before you pay for the wrong one
  • 03
The one mistake most families make the summer before college โ€” and the three things to do instead
  • 04
Why a 3.8 GPA without real projects loses to a 3.2 GPA with three projects in almost every job interview
  • 05
The one question to ask on every campus visit that no college counselor will ever think to ask for you

About Dr. Rose Shumba

After 20 years as a Computer Science professor โ€” including running a nationally recognised cybersecurity program โ€” I saw the same thing over and over. The parents who needed my help most were not in my classroom. They were at home, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on decisions they did not have enough information to make well.

The only course for parents of college-bound tech students built by someone who has spent 20 years inside tech programs โ€” watching who graduates with a job and who does not.

Dr. Rose Shumba holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham. She is a professor at Bowie State University, a former Director of an NSA and DHS Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, and the founder of The Tech Academy and Kudzai Edu Group.

She has spent more than 20 years teaching students in tech programs. She has helped her own children into six-figure tech careers. Her work has been featured in The New York Times.

This mini-course is the five things she wishes every parent knew before their child enrolled.
