Finished a Technical Degree but Still Not Sure How to Enter Cybersecurity?
A guided hybrid cybersecurity foundations pathway made of 5 courses. Each course is 4 weeks long and includes structure, hands-on practice, and weekly live support before you sit for Security+ or move into a cyber role.
You do not need another random video. You need structure, hands-on practice, and someone who can explain what the textbook is really teaching.
This hybrid pathway helps you slow down, learn cybersecurity in the right order, and connect technical concepts to real cybersecurity work across 5 focused courses.
You Studied Technology, But Cybersecurity Still Feels Confusing
Many graduates want to enter cybersecurity but are not sure where to begin.
You See Too Many Cybersecurity Terms
- Security operations
- Threats and vulnerabilities
- Cryptography
- Cloud security
- Incident response
- Risk management
You Get Too Much Conflicting Advice
Start with Security+. No, start with hacking. No, learn cloud or SOC tools first. Before long, you are jumping between videos and practice questions with no clear path.
This pathway gives you structure so you can learn the foundation in the right order.
This Is for Serious Learners Who Want More Than a Certificate
This pathway is designed for people who already have a technical background and want a clearer bridge into cybersecurity.
Technical Graduates Who Want to Enter Cybersecurity
You may hold a degree or diploma in computer science, information systems, software engineering, networking, or another technical field. This pathway helps you connect what you already studied to real cybersecurity concepts and job expectations.
Final-Year Students Preparing for Cybersecurity Careers
You may still be in school but want to prepare early. This pathway helps you build the vocabulary, study habits, and technical foundation you need before applying for internships, graduate roles, or entry-level cyber positions.
IT and Technical Professionals Ready to Move Into Cybersecurity
You may already work in IT support, networking, systems, software, or audit and compliance. This pathway helps you strengthen your cybersecurity foundation and prepare for your next move.
Graduates Who Want Security+ but Need Structure First
You may be interested in Security+ but do not want to study alone or rely only on practice questions. This pathway walks you through the foundation step by step with readings, labs, practice, and weekly guidance.
Who This Is Not For
This pathway is not a shortcut, and it is not a job-placement promise.
Not for Memorizing Answers
This will not help you if you only want to memorize exam answers without understanding the concepts.
Not a Certificate-Only Shortcut
A certificate by itself does not guarantee a job. This pathway focuses on understanding, practice, and application.
Not for Complete Tech Beginners
If you are completely new to technology, you may need an IT foundations course first before starting this pathway.
The Pathway Includes 5 Courses, Each 4 Weeks Long
The pathway is organized into 5 courses. Each course runs for 4 weeks, and we meet once a week live so you are not left to figure it out alone.
Read and Understand
Each week includes assigned textbook reading and guided explanation from Dr. Rose during the live hybrid session.
Practice and Apply
You complete practice questions, hands-on lab activities, and simple weekly assignments.
Connect to Cyber Work
You join weekly live discussions that connect the material to real cybersecurity work and career direction.
Required Textbook and Lab Access
The assigned textbook for this pathway is CompTIA Security+ Guide to Network Security Fundamentals, 8th Edition, by Mark Ciampa, published by Cengage. Students purchase or access the textbook separately.
The hands-on labs run through Cengage MindTap, which provides live, gradable virtual-machine labs in a safe sandbox environment. MindTap access is required for the lab work.
The Tech Academy provides the teaching structure, weekly guidance, worksheets, study plan, and career pathway support. We do not distribute copyrighted textbook chapters, publisher slides, test banks, answer keys, or exam materials.
The Course Pathway
The pathway includes 5 courses. Each course is 4 weeks long and helps you move through foundational cybersecurity topics in a clear order.
Security Foundations and Attack Surfaces
Learn the purpose of cybersecurity, common concepts, attack surfaces, threat actors, and controls organizations use to reduce risk.
Cryptography and Secure Communication
Learn how encryption, hashing, certificates, PKI, and secure protocols protect information and support trust.
Device Security and Identity
Learn how endpoints, mobile devices, embedded systems, accounts, passwords, MFA, and identity controls are protected.
Infrastructure, Cloud, and Wireless Security
Learn how organizations defend networks, infrastructure, wireless systems, cloud environments, and virtualized systems.
Security Operations and Risk Management
Learn how organizations manage vulnerabilities, prepare for incidents, investigate security events, and connect cybersecurity to risk management.
Is This a Security+ Exam Prep Course?
This is not an official CompTIA Security+ course, and it is not an exam-cram bootcamp. However, it covers foundational cybersecurity areas that can support students who later choose to pursue Security+ exam preparation.
If you plan to sit for the Security+ exam, you should also complete exam-specific practice and review the official CompTIA exam objectives before you register.
Important: CompTIA, Security+, Network+, and A+ are trademarks of CompTIA. This course is independently developed and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CompTIA.
Structure, Guidance, and Hands-On Practice
Many learners buy a textbook and never finish it. Others buy practice questions and memorize answers without understanding the concepts.
You Know What to Read
Each week gives you a clear reading path, so the textbook becomes useful instead of overwhelming.
You Know What to Practice
You connect readings to practice questions, labs, assignments, and weekly checkpoints.
You Know Why It Matters
Every topic is connected back to real cybersecurity work and career direction.
Technical Cybersecurity Foundations Pathway
