Why Practical Work Matters to Us
Three years ago, I referred someone for an interview. On paper, she was one of the strongest candidates I had met: graduate qualifications in cybersecurity and project management, along with a professional certification.
Afterward, the hiring manager called me. He had no doubt she had studied the material. What he could not see was whether she could apply it. He had asked her to walk him through something she had produced and explain her choices. She could not.
That call stayed with me. I had read the same rƩsumƩ and believed she was ready.
It changed what I ask of the people I teach. My practical programs now ask learners to produce realistic work, receive feedback, and explain why they made each decision.
Being able to show your work and explain your decisions gives an employer something concrete to discuss with you and evidence of how you think.
That is the sequence every practical program here follows.
Learn it. Build and defend it. Use it professionally.
